Shutters & Blinds in Parker, CO

Parker is the furthest north we regularly work, and shutters are what most people call us about. The housing stock suits them: larger homes, generous window openings, and a lot of specialty shapes that a blind simply cannot handle well.

About 50 minutes north, and a regular route for our installers.

Why shutters dominate our Parker work

Parker's newer developments favour a housing style with substantial architectural windows: arched transoms over entries, eyebrow windows, angled rake tops following a vaulted ceiling, and two-storey window walls. These are exactly the openings where a shutter is the correct product and everything else is a compromise.

A blind or shade has to be square to its headrail. An arch is not square, an angled rake is not square, and neither is an octagon. A shutter is built to the shape of the opening (templated on site, with the frame following the actual geometry) so it fits the way trim fits rather than the way a covering hangs.

The other reason is permanence. Parker homes tend to be owned rather than rented, and owners planning to stay are more inclined to buy the treatment that lasts twenty years and conveys with the house. Read more on plantation shutters and composite shutters.

Composite is usually the right call here

For most Parker installations we specify composite over hardwood, and it is a considered recommendation rather than a cost-saving one.

The great majority of these homes want white or off-white shutters: partly taste, partly HOA covenants across the Parker developments. Once the finish is going to be painted rather than stained, hardwood's main advantage disappears, and composite's advantages remain: it will not warp in a west-facing window, it is unaffected by bathroom steam, and it holds its colour without yellowing.

Hardwood still wins for stained finishes and for the widest panels, where basswood's lighter weight lets a panel run wider before it needs a divider rail. On a very wide great room window that can mean one fewer vertical interruption, which is worth having.

Working at distance, properly

Parker is a fifty-minute drive from our showroom, and we are straightforward about how we handle that. We batch Parker appointments so our installers are working a full day in the area rather than making single trips, which is how we avoid adding a travel charge.

In practice that means slightly less flexibility on scheduling than we can offer inside Colorado Springs. We may ask you to take a particular day rather than any day. In exchange, the consultation is free, the measurement is done by the same people who do it in the city, and there is no distance premium on the quote.

Installation is professional and, on shutters in particular, precise. A shutter is fitted into the opening rather than hung in front of it, so a small error shows.

What we install in Parker

Parker questions

Do you charge extra to come out to Parker?
No. Parker is inside our regular service area, and the in-home consultation is free with no travel charge. We schedule Parker appointments in blocks so we can offer you a tighter arrival window rather than a half-day range.
How long does an installation in Parker take?
Most whole-home installations are done in a single day. A few large windows or specialty shutters can run into a second visit, and we tell you which applies before you order rather than on the day.
What is the lead time from measurement to installation?
Typically two to four weeks for blinds and shades, and four to six weeks for custom shutters. Specialty shapes and stained hardwood run longer. You get a real date at the point of order.
Is there a travel charge for Parker?
No. We batch Parker appointments so our team works a full day in the area rather than making individual trips, which lets us serve it at the same prices as Colorado Springs. The trade-off is that we may need to schedule you on a specific day rather than any day you choose.

I am so pleased with my new blackout shades! Scott and Mitchell definitely know the ins and outs of window coverings. They can meld what you are trying to achieve with the space you have to work with and suggest just the right products. Installation was smooth, and they even offered some helpful tips for using my shades to the fullest. Great experience!
